Getting to Brookings
Arriving by Plane
Most travelers will find the greatest number of flight options coming into the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, regional airport. Since this airport is about an hour south of Brookings on Interstate 29, you may wish to rent a car or coordinate your travel with someone else to arrange a ride-share. Arriving by Car
From the South
1. Traveling north on I-29, take the first Brookings exit (#132). Turn left (west) and travel into Brookings. You are on Highway 14, which is also 6th Street (the main thoroughfare through town).
2. Follow 6th Street and turn right (north) onto 16th Avenue (the first right after McDonald’s).
3. Continue north on 16th Avenue about four blocks to Grove Lane.
4. Turn left (west) onto Grove Lane and drive about two blocks west to the University Student Union. Parking is available on the east side of the University Student Union.
From the North
1. Traveling south on I-29, take the second exit into Brookings (#132). Turn right (west) and drive into Brookings. You are on Highway 14, which is also 6th Street (the main thoroughfare through town). Follow the directions above, beginning at paragraph # 2.
From the East
1. Traveling west, you will enter Brookings on Highway 14, which is also 6th Street. Follow the directions above, beginning at paragraph # 2.
From the West
1. Traveling east on Highway 14, follow the Highway 14 Bypass Route until you come to Medary Avenue (there is a stoplight at this intersection).
2. Turn right (south) onto Medary Avenue, then turn left (east) onto North Campus Drive.
3. Continue on North Campus Drive, which curves south and turns into 16th Avenue. Drive south past the HPER Center to Grove Lane.
4. Turn right (west) onto Grove Lane and drive about two blocks west to the University Student Union. Parking is available on the east side of the University Student Union.
